Description
An astute investor can ask a few key questions to learn whether an entrepreneur has done diligence to evaluate the viability of their idea, the market’s interest in buying their product and has been INTENTIONAL about creating their business. Problems with your business can cause delays and result in “deal fatigue” that could cause investors to move onto another investment opportunity that is not as complicated.
It’s easy to get swept up in the research and development of a science idea, for example, neglect to ask questions “will anyone buy/pay for this” “and at what price” or “is there a way to build/scale this to an attractive market size?”. It takes discipline to focus in the midst of excitement about a new idea and build the nuts and bolts of the company to be attractive to investors.
Investors will ask these questions and more as they evaluate the status of a prospect. Our presenters will explain the go/no go reasons they choose to pass on or invest in companies.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
- Founders and entrepreneurs who will need to fund their idea from investors beyond friends and family
- Any entrepreneur who has not set up their business with legal and intellectual property protections
- A startup interested in learning how investors think
- University technology transfer and commercialization teams and others who advise
