Join us for an exciting discussion on leadership featuring a keynote from Meredith College's eighth and first alumna president, Dr. Jo Allen. Most of us who aspire to positions of leadership benefit from explorations, case studies, and tips offered in books, articles, workshops, podcasts, and talks with peers, mentors, and leaders. The focus of many of those discussions is how to attend to the critical elements of Leadership: Which degrees? What salaries? What assignments or experiences? Which pathways to greater opportunities? We are, after all, inclined to set our sights high, while sometimes undermining our self-confidence, all while trying to remember the advice of Richard and Kristine Carlson in their book, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff: And It's All Small Stuff.
The problem? It isn't all small stuff because sometimes the small stuff snowballs. Sometimes it portends big stuff hiding just around the corner. And sometimes it totally throws us off our game. Or scars us permanently.
In this presentation, which includes stories from my own experience and that of others, we get a chance to identify common elements of "small stuff" that constitute the foundations of "leadership" that can grow into--or derail--"Leadership."
